Pendleton x Cornell
The Pendleton Scholarship Team is comprised of Design and Management students at Cornell University who work as a team to replicate the dynamics of a small apparel company. The team conceptualizes, designs, sources, produces, and sells a menswear line showcased at the Cornell Fashion Collective annual show. The line is also exhibited in the Pendleton Woolen Mills Showroom at headquarters in Portland, Oregon, before being sold to consumers. Pendleton Woolen Mills provides fabrics and financial sponsorship to the team.
This year’s Pendleton collection takes us on a journey back to days of hiking and archery, nights crammed into small tents by the campfire, and most of all, our unrelenting pride for the uniforms we adorned as Boy Scouts. Drawing inspiration from the Scout’s strong roots in nature, this year’s collection glorifies the 150-year-old Pendleton heritage with an infusion of handcrafted quirkiness and eccentricity. The collection is dictated by the interplay of the patterns and colors of Pendleton fabrics, which work seamlessly with the strong silhouettes. It is through this nontraditional lens, with a nod to classic Pendleton tradition, that we bring the modern-day Boy Scout out of the woods and onto the runway.
I was head of design on the Pendleton x Cornell team, where I drove concept, mood, and overall design direction for the collection. All pieces were designed, patterned, and sewn by myself and my design team.
